Centre Volunteers In Medicine hosts “Give Kids a Smile and Vision for the Future”
Nothing is better than seeing a child smile. On April 9, 2010, CVIM hosts “Give Kids a Smile and Vision for the Future”. This event provides Centre county children, without insurance, free comprehensive dental care, plus vision and hearing screenings. The program is for children between the ages of 3 and 18, who live in Centre county, and whose parents or guardians meet a certain income criteria. Space is limited, and advance registration is a must. Registration for “Give Kids a Smile and Vision for the Future” will run through March 31, 2010. To register, or for additional information, please call Centre Volunteers in Medicine at 231-4043, and say that you want to register your child for the “Give Kids a Smile and Vision for the Future” program. This program is made possible through the generosity of Pediatric Dental Associates, Nittany Eye Associates, Albrecht Audiology Service, Centre County Drug and Alcohol, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Colgate, Henry-Schein Dental, Vision Benefits of America and local volunteers.
In 2009, CVIM helped close to 100 local kids have dental care, and vision and hearing screenings. Some of the services performed that day included dental fillings and extractions, prescription glasses ordered, and hearing aids prescribed. Imagine being a child and in pain because of cavities, or not being able to see or hear! The total services provided in that one day exceeded $40,000!
